30 Jul My FabFitFun Fall 2019 Customizations
The Fall FabFitFun Fall 2019 box will be my third FabFitFun box. I have been seeing the ads everywhere for the FabFitFun box but I was never inspired to try it out. However, the Spring 2019 box actually had several products I actually use and the price of the box was cheaper than what I could get the products for with my professional discount. I found a great coupon code and bought the box. I was happy with the Spring 2019 box and decided to subscribe because being a beauty blogger gets expensive and yours truly is not evergreen- yet 🙂
Thus far in my past two boxes, there has been some winner product and some that I don’t care if my son accidentally turns them into “potions” in the shower. Overall, the worth it products has made the box worth the money. Without further adieu, below are my FabFitFun Fall 2019 customization choices.
Customization Choice #1- Mobile White Advanced Teeth Whitening
I chose the Mobile White Teeth Whitening System for my first customization because I have been obsessed with having super white teeth since I was in high school. In college, my mom’s neighbor was a dentist and she would give me NiteWhite syringes for Christmas! When Zoom whitening came out in the late 2000s, I went to my dentist in Chicago to get Zoom and he said he wouldn’t do it because my natural teeth are the 3rd lightest shade on the tooth color spectrum. Side note: Having doctors that push back and give you the straight-up truth are the best type to have… I digress, I’m still in love with having white teeth but since getting sick with Lupus and Fibromyalgia, my self-care has hit rock bottom. Having chronic pain and illness, plus two special needs kids mean self-care and trying to keep myself looking good goes to the bottom of the list. However, after being at Mayo again for two weeks at the beginning of July, my doctors and my kid’s doctors stressed how much self-care is needed in my life. I also want my kids to grow up with self-care being a normal routine in their lives. Therefore, I need to lead by example and show my kids how important self-care is. Getting my diamondlike bright smile back is part of my self-care strategy.
Customization Choice #2- NassifMD Cermaceuticals
The FabFitFun second customization choices were interesting- lunch cooler, skincare, wallet, or a cheeseboard. In my last two boxes, there was always a home option. I picked the silicon wine cups in the summer box. They will be with me at Austin City Limits in October. However, this time the cheeseboard was like meh and everyone I know has one so it wouldn’t be something that I could save for a gift down the road. The lunch cooler was of zero interest and the wallet as well. Therefore, the NassifMD Detox Pads were my selection.
I have followed Dr. Nassif since Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 1. He has been great about answering a few questions I have asked him about the cosmetic procedures via Instagram and Twitter. Now with BOTCHED on E!, I get to watch all his magnificent surgical skills in real-time. Personally, I think BOTCHED should be mandatory for everyone to watch. Besides Paul (Dr. Nassif) and Terry (Dr. Dubrow) teasing each other constantly which is hilarious, you actually learn A LOT about surgery. Going to Mayo Clinic numerous times, being botched myself, two preemie babies in the NICU, and being a former pharmaceutical drug rep I know A LOT about medicine. However, BOTCHED has taught me much more about internal anatomy, questions to ask my surgeon, and the history of medical procedures and surgery. When I had my septoplasty done at Mayo Clinic in October, I could understand everything my surgeon was saying and ask questions at his level. This show puts you on an evener knowledge level with your surgeon.
When Dr. Nassif launched his skincare line, I was like OK. Another Bravolebrity product line- whomp whomp. However, when his product showed up at Costco, I was like Ok this is serious. (The Costco buyers are BOSSES, they don’t mess around with crap. Annette Alvarez-Peters, Costco’s wine buyer, is one of the most influential people in the wine world. She is such a big deal, I studied her in MBA school in my brand management classes.) He is actually trying to make this a real product line. Besides Costco.com, I haven’t read any reviews on NassifMD skincare so I don’t know how well the Detox Pads will perform. However, I do use exfoliating pads on my makeup clients so I can always add them to my kit.
Customization Choice #3- The Better Skin Co. Lava Magik
For choice number three, I picked the Better Skin Co. Lava Magik. I have never used this brand or even heard of it, but I already had the NEOGEN vitamin c powder so I didn’t need the Cosmedix Vita C powder. The Bauble Bar climbers were not of interest because the few things I have ordered from Bauble Bar have been arrived damaged so I wasn’t going to risk picking their product.
Lava Magik does sound interesting with its french volcanic lava. I have never used a product with volcanic lava so I was like check that ingredient off of the list of ingredients I have never tested. Plus, it is French volcanic lava so it must be the most exquisite volcanic lava available right 🙂 Also, powder skincare products are having a moment right now. They have been around for some time but weren’t mainstream due to being more complex IE required mixing, messy, etc. However, with people being highly engaged in skincare, willing to use more complex products, and literally get their hands dirty using said skincare powder products are becoming more popular.
Customization Choice #4- Skinvolve Body Boost Gel
For my fourth and final FabFitFun customization choice. I chose the Skinvolve Body Boost Gel because, I don’t need another salt & pepper shaker and the other two options, head towel and makeup sample, really seamed like a waste of a pick to me. I was surprised they were offering those two options as viable choices because, in my opinion, they were boring and not full-sized products.
I have never used a Skinvolve product before so I don’t have any opinion of the brand for the time being. The quick googling I did for the brand had a mix of love/ hate reviews for their peppermint scrub. Peppermint can get overpowering and if the scrub is cheaply made it can leave people with subpar experience, so I will reserve judgment on the brand until I try it.
