Neutrogena Light Therapy Ance Mask

Neutrogena has issued a recall on its Light Therapy Acne Mask. The mask is being recalled due to the unit causing visual effects. Neutrogena claims these visual effects are generally mild and transient. People who are on medication that increase photosensitivity and people with current eye issues are at “theoretical risk of eye injury.”

According to Mayo Clinic, visual effects are as follows.

  • Blind spots (scotomas), which are sometimes outlined by simple geometric designs
  • Zigzag lines that gradually float across your field of vision
  • Shimmering spots or stars
  • Changes in vision or vision loss
  • Flashes of light

According to WebMD drugs that cause photosensitivity are as follows.

Neutrogena has asked if you experience any visual discomfort when using the mask, you should stop use and contact your healthcare professional. For any questions, including regarding a refund, please contact their Consumer Care line at 1 (800) 582-4048.
